Happy Snappy

I got the Camera. Horray. Well, I say I got THE camera, but what I mean is I decided at the store which one to get. I had a look around town and the one shop that had a few of the Fuji FinePix cameras had a sale on the S9600. I was actually looking to get the S6500 if possible for the right price, but this bargain was too hard to pass.

I’ve played around with it for a few hours and at one point the battery light came on. Not sure if I had been running it down but they recommend rechargeable ones (good reason) but why didn’t they supply rechargables with the camera? So anyway I’ll likely have to find a good set of those, plus a few tripods and lenses/filters too. But for now I’m happy with just using what I got, which is a great deal for someone first venturing into mystical settings of ISO and other stuff I don’t understand yet.

Oh and I still haven’t got linux sorted on the old laptop. I’ve given up for the time being, simply because all of the cd-images I download don’t seem to match the 5M sum (or something to that effect, essentially a verify tool to check the file for errors)
